Publish local asylum data — stop hiding behind national totals

Councils and residents cannot plan services against figures deliberately kept at national level. Withholding local data is a political choice, and it is indefensible.

Our specific ask

Mandatory quarterly local-authority-level publication of accommodation numbers and costs, with a presumption of disclosure on every related FOI.

Evidence base

  • The Home Office publishes only partial local breakdowns, and routinely refuses FOI requests for the rest.
  • Councils are expected to absorb service pressure without being told its scale.
