Deport foreign criminals — enforce the law already on the books

The UK Borders Act 2007 requires the deportation of foreign nationals sentenced to 12 months or more. The backlog has grown regardless. This is not a legal problem, it is a failure of will and management.

Our specific ask

A published quarterly removals target, a live public backlog tracker, and Home Office accountability to a Commons committee for every quarter missed.

Evidence base

  • Home Office enforced and voluntary returns reached 37,918 in the year ending December 2025, yet the foreign national offender backlog remains stubbornly large.
  • Parliament legislated for removal in 2007; departments have been permitted to under-deliver for years without penalty.
